From Painted Desert Vista on the loop road between Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments, you can watch the sun rise over the Painted Desert siloueting cinder cones in the San Francisco volcanic field. I am particularly fascinated by the interaction of light and clouds which constantly evolves as the sun climbs the sky.
