US Route 89 passes through or near eleven National Parks, twenty-two National Monuments and three National Recreation Areas which are detailed on this map. I am going to post photos and descriptions on these places over the next couple of months starting with the National Parks and going from south to north. As you can see from the map, 89 traverses three geographical provinces before ending in the Great Plains. All of this offers the travel the opportunity to experience some of the most varied and beautiful scenery on Earth.
